Sunday - July 4 - A quiet morning in Chama, New Mexico. We went to early Mass at the small church here. Thanks God for all our blessings! Then into town (all of a few blocks) to breakfast. A little cafe with two guys making special order omlettes. Corky & I had ours with NM green sauce. Really good. Today the RV park is holding a 4th celebration pot luck. The town has a fireworks show tonight. Should be a crowd. We hear the whole county comes.
The elevation here is 8000+ feet so the mornings are very cool. It warms up quickly to the high 70s.
Yesterday we drove the route the Cumbres & Toltec train normally takes from here to Antonito, CO. This is the 40th year for the tourist train; a narrow gauge that's been in use since the 1890's. Unfortunately the train isn't operating right now. A trestle was damaged by a "suspicious" fire a few miles from here last week and all operation from this end has stopped until repairs are done. The drive was beautiful - up to 10,000+ feet of beautiful scenery.
Tuesday we head on to "somewhere" in Colorado. - planning to find places we haven't seen yet.
"The journey is it's own reward" Love to all.
